The common advice for anyone embarking on a creative project with a graphic
or web designer is to choose the best two out of three. If you are a client who
wants high quality work done “as soon as possible”, Top-Notch and “for cheap”, I
can tell you from experience that finding a perfect balance of speed, quality
and cost in graphic design is virtually impossible.
- Speed & Low Costs mean the Quality will most likely suffer
“Can you have it quickly and at a low cost?” We can try to schedule and
work quickly and economically but the quality of the design may suffer because
of it. With sufficient time or funds, you can expect superior work.
- Speed & Quality means you Pay More
“It’s got to be fast and it’s got to be great!” We will be optimistic but
please know that in order to have it both quickly and top-notch quality, the
cost will increase. This is due to the possibility of delaying other projects,
late nights and/or multiple designers.
- Quality & Low Cost means it’s going to take more time
Truthfully, a client can certainly have great work for less money. The
problem here is that the job is likely to take a lower priority on our
scheduling list because we have to honor the Speed and Quality or Speed and Low
Cost scheduling first.
Our advice? Choose two. Decide which of the three options are most
important to you. Is money an issue? Then sacrifice a little time or quality.
Is quality most important? Then be prepared to pay more money or allow more
time to finish. Lastly, if time is of the essence, realize you may have to
sacrifice quality or cost-effectiveness to get the job done on schedule.
